OpenAI New Director Issues Severe Warning: AI Getting Out of Control Would Be Catastrophic, Most People May Die

OpenAI announced that Paul Christiano has joined its foundation board. He previously led OpenAI's alignment research and later served as the director of the Security Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology's AI Standards and Innovation Center. He has publicly discussed the risks of the AI superintelligence era and will also hold other positions.
